In Pushpagiri Medical College Hospital, the subspecialty of Pediatric Surgery was initiated in the year 2002 as part of the Department of General Surgery. By 2005, it became an independent department and has since expanded, setting the benchmark for surgical treatment of children. Recognizing that children are not merely small adults, the department acknowledges their unique requirements. Their physiology and disease processes are often very different from that of adults.
Paediatric Medicine and Paediatric Surgery aims to address, children-specific themes, to ensure optimum care for small and precious children. The Department of Paediatric Surgery is unique in its expertise and innovative techniques. A combination of specialists and technical resources deliver state-of-the-art care, which includes highly skilled Neonatal Surgical work-up. Special assistance is provided by the Paediatric Radiology, Neonatology and Paediatric Anaesthesiology Departments. Hundreds of surgical problems are being attended to every year.
