A multidisciplinary centre for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of children with multiple challenges under the auspices of the Department of Paediatrics
Pratheeksha CDC is a socially committed holistic highly professional Multidisciplinary Early Intervention Center which is the first of its kind in the Central Travancore region of Kerala state in India. It is primarily set up for comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis and management of children with multiple challenges. It was initially started as a Development assessment clinic in the Department of Paediatrics in 2002 by veteran Dr Kurian Thomas. It was then transformed into a full-fledged Child Development Centre in April 2014. The beneficiaries of the centre are by far more than 7500 families from around 15 countries around the world. We are a professional team situated inside a tertiary medical college hospital comprising 2 Neurodevelopmental Paediatricians and 20 Therapists involved in multiple rehabilitation programmes. We deal with diagnosis, assessment and treatment of almost all types of physical, mental, intellectual, learning and social disabilities. We deal with ‘customised ’ family-based therapies targeting at the maximum outcome for the child, enabling an inclusive education and social setup.
The results of our efforts are very promising and have really brought hope amidst our immediate society. Our aim is to achieve more knowledge empowerment and we hope to enhance our services to a wider public in the field of Autism as we recognise it as the most underserved and emerging social disability especially after the advent of COVID pandemic. We do hope that our unique services get utilised by our society and more and more acceptance and inclusion occur to special families in our society.
