Indian Academy of Pediatrics Fellowship in Developmental & Behavioural pediatrics is a prestigious flagship program initiated by IAP chapter of Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics to train pediatric specialists in field of Developmental Pediatrics.
Since its inception in 2015, there are fifteen institutes of excellence till date all over India recognized to conduct the fellowship program. Pratheeksha Child Development center at Pushpagiri Institute of medial science s and research center is one of those center of excellence. Each year a fresh batch of around 17 candidates is selected who undergo a year of intensive training at the selected Child development centre, followed by a written and oral examination at the term end. The fellowship is awarded to the candidates who clear both the examinations and this fellowship is recognized by Indian Academy of Pediatrics, largest conglomerate of pediatricians in India.
The aim of the IAP Fellowship in Developmental & Behavioural Pediatrics is to provide specialized training to doctors to be able to identify early any infant or toddler at risk for developmental disorder or a child with established developmental disorder and to be able to provide therapeutic & interventional services for attaining maximum potential in motor, social, cognitive, adaptive and conceptual skills. The comprehensive and thorough training imparted to the trainee doctors will also produce competency in various fields of therapeutic and non-therapeutic management of children with neuro- developmental disorders. The multi-disciplinary team should consist of Special Educators, Clinical Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and others, who function in an inter disciplinary way under the same roof and provide therapeutic interventional services for children, neuro–behavioural disorders and various childhood disabling conditions. This will be obtained by undergoing a regular training program at various Child Development Centre.
